ANAHEIM, Calif. — Long Beach FC exploded for it’s biggest win of the season with a 10-0 thrashing of last-place SoCal United at Western High School to stay in control of winning its first UPSL Premier title.
Lucas Gonzalez scored his second hattrick of the season, taking his season total to 11, and added three assists while Mikey Mckibbin scored twice, had three assists and set up one more goal and created several other opportunities off pass interceptions.

“Mikey has understood his role and responsibilities both on attacking and defending moments,” said coach Art Caballero. “He has a great soccer IQ that has made him very effective within our game model and style of play. He works hard and is a big key to our success so far.”
The win keeps LBFC (9-0-2, 27 points) one point ahead of second place Laguna United in the SoCal North conference with one game remaining for both teams. With a win in its final regular season game, Long Beach FC would clinch its second UPSL league title and first in the Premier Division. The loss dropped SoCal United to 1-1-9 with 4 points.
Long Beach dominated from the outset, with McKibbin scoring seven minutes into the game. Jakob Singh added his third of the season seven minutes later. Team captain Aaron Minkoff and forward Jay Hines each scored their second goal of the season while Aiden Bengard and Leonel Alvarenga each scored their first. Impressively, nine of LBFC’s goals came off an assist. Goalkeepers Alan Solorio and Charlie Murray, who came on as a sub for the final 15 minutes, combined for the team’s fourth shutout of the season.

Long Beach FC now leads the league in goals scored with 38, is tied with San Fernando Valley FC for best defense with 12 goals against and has the best goal differential with 26.
“We had high expectations coming into this game and wanted to put in some goals,” Mckibbin said. “We have to stay locked in. Last game at home and we always play well in front of our fans. We’re going to get prepared this week and have a good final game to win league.”
LBFC’s final regular season match is Youth Club Night when the team will face AMSG FC at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at Cabrillo High School Jaguar Stadium.
