Shoreline United is now Long Beach FC!

LBFC Team News #18Long Beach, CA

By Dan Minkoff

Shoreline United had a fantastic first year in the UPSL representing Long Beach. Now about to start it’s second year in U.S. Soccer’s fourth division, the club has decided to identify more closely with the city it represents.

“We updated the team name to plant our flag and establish ourselves as the premier soccer club in Long Beach,” said club co-founder Sebastian De Smedt. We also wanted to make it easier for potential fans to identify with our club. We understand there could be some confusion as we start to roll the new name and brand, and reintroduce ourselves to our audience, but we are committed to make it a smooth transition.

LBFC will continue to use the same logo and celestial blue and sunglow yellow color scheme. The club’s four palms of commitment will also continue to be Growth, The Beautiful Game, Excellence and Community.

In addition to the new name, the team will also have a new partner for the front of its 2025 kit Food Finders, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) food rescue organization with a mission to rescue food, reduce hunger and improve nutrition in communities in and around Long Beach.

At LBFC, we represent what everybody in Long Beach knows – Long Beach isn’t LA, it isn’t Orange County, it’s LONG BEACH,” said club co-founder Willie Alexander. We are proud to support our community and honored to represent it. Our partnership with Food Finders in 2025 will help us bring more structure to our foundation as a club and help make a difference in the community.

LBFC players and staff will participate in Food Finders’ Community Marketplace on Feb. 22, Food4Kids drop-offs at participating Long Beach Unified School District schools, College Pantry drop-offs and other volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Fans are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to LBFC home games during the spring season and help the club meet its goal of collecting more than 5,000 pounds.

Other partners for 2025 include Sports Basement, which will be featured on the sleeve of home and away jerseys, and Legends, the first modern sports bar in America, which will be featured on the back of the jersey.
